Enmarcadas por las movilizaciones que a en meses recientes han protestado la brutalidad policial y las desigualdades entre las razas, decenas de miles de estadounidenses participaron en actividades de celebración del natalicio de Martin Luther King Jr.
#DayOfAction, #WWMLKD, #PledgeOfResistance,#BeLikeKing, #ReclaimMLK reunieron grupos como Black Lives Matter, Ferguson Action y otros en New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, igual que en ciudades de la costa Oeste del país.
Además de realizar marchas, muchos ciudadanos pusieron su granito de arena con un “Día de Servicio”, de ayuda a los menos favorecidos.
En Selma, Alabama, el elenco de la película “Selma” participó en una marcha recordando la que encabezó Martin Luther King Jr., en 1965 y logró el derecho al voto a los afroamericanos.
Martin Luther King Jr., nació el 15 de enero de 1929. En 1964 recibió el Premio Nobel por la Paz. Fue asesinado un 4 de abril de 1968.
